Today was long, well no longer than any other day, but wow. We left at 12:30pm and it was raining and we got to Williamsburg, Virginia around 9:30pm and it was raining. It's still raining. The one reprieve from the rain happened in the afternoon when we managed to stop in Baltimore by this little café called Van Gough on Gough Street it's really cute and comfortable with board games and little prints of Van Gogh paintings and like a lame-o Miriam ordered the same sandwich that I did (her words not mine she even told me how to spell lame-o).

We started in New York and passed New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware (yes it exists), Maryland and arrived in Virginia. Tomorrow we hope to explore this wonderful town of Williamsburg, Virginia. The nice lady at the front desk of our hotel gave us lots of cool places to visit in the area so tomorrow's post will hopefully be more exciting, less wet and include awesome pictures.

For now I will eat lots of chocolate and call it a night.

Now I'm Four Five Days from wildin'

And we got five more days 'til Monday

We are now five (!) days from heading out on the road. My car got a clean bill of health, there is shopping (we bought all of the sunscreen at Wal Mart, a selfie stick, and lots of snacks), there is packing and negotiating (Miriam said I can only take along two pairs of shoes. I said she can only take along two books. One of the tougher decisions we have had to make in life.)

I wanted to thank everyone for all the help we've been getting in planning this trip. Dani Katz - for helping us with a road trip mix, Avrumi Blaut - for helping us find places to stay in Seattle, Esther Geiger - for helping us with places to stay in Denver and Houston. Aviva Summers for hosting us in Atlanta. Gabe and Sara Geiger - for hosting us in our extended stay in LA.

Lots of you have given us great suggestions on places to visit. We added some of them to our journey, so check out our updated map above, and keep the suggestions coming!

You will notice that my blog posts are not as fancy-English-words or artsy-comics as Miriam's, that is because she's the fancy English and Art degree holder. But if you see any fancy features on the blog I'm the one messing around with the HTML so take that Miriam :p (plus I'm taking along three pairs of shoes and she doesn't even know it ;p )

Pre-Post-College Stress Disorder

"It took a lot of planning to plan the plan. " ~Harvey Stenger, Binghamton University president

Shari and I are currently about two weeks out from beginning our post-college adventure. We have a route across the US (see the map above) coupled with a calendar, a list of places to visit, and a search tab of the cheapest (yet least sleazy) hotels to stay at. (It's important to strike a good balance.) A few friends are hosting us along the way, and for that we are incredibly grateful.

Our objective is to see this country, in all its grit and glory, and not kill each other. Shari and I will take turns blogging about our adventures at the end of each day, so if we don't post anything for a day, we hope you'll worry. (Just a little bit.) (Or if Shari's the only one posting, then I hope my friends and family start worrying about me.)

So check in and keep up. Be a back seat driver! Live vicariously through our adventures. Check out our route, and let us know about cool places in your part of the country, or the time you crossed the US in a beat up VW Bug.
